ii V I VI Line Study

This study deals with improvising over the ii V I VI chord progression. Each line is based on a ryhthmic template. This will allow you to focus on notes. Note choices should be based on the following principles:

• Chord Tones: 1 3 5 7
• Non-Chord Tones that blend: 9 11 13
• Non-Chords that create tension: b5 #5 b9 #9

Proceed as follows:

1. Analyze and play each line
2. Compose lines based on the rhythmic template
3. Improvise lines
